Don’t drink the Water!

No, I’m not talking about vitamin water again.

See Flouride below my workout for more…

I got back into the garage gym yesterday with Ring dips, Ring Pushups, DL’s and a new thing that I am trying to work on my handstand with called Handstand runs (See here for more on these),then did some cardio on a bike later. I’m feeling better and trying to get into a good rhythm and descent shape before the school in Cali

Flouride is put into water systems in the U.K., India and U.S.A. among others to “make our teeth healthier”

– Fluoride is a waste by-product of the fertilizer and aluminum industry and it’s also a Part II Poison under the UK Poisons Act 1972.

– Fluoride is one of the basic ingredients in both PROZAC (FLUoxetene Hydrochloride) and Sarin nerve gas (Isopropyl-Methyl-Phosphoryl FLUoride).

– USAF Major George R. Jordan testified before Un-American Activity committees of Congress in the 1950’s that in his post as U.S.-Soviet liaison officer, the Soviets openly admitted to “Using the fluoride in the water supplies in their concentration camps, to make the prisoners stupid, docile, and subservient.”

– The first occurrence of fluoridated drinking water on Earth was found in Germany’s Nazi prison camps. The Gestapo had little concern about fluoride’s supposed effect on children’s teeth; their alleged reason for mass-medicating water with sodium fluoride was to sterilize humans and force the people in their concentration camps into calm submission. (Ref. book: “The Crime and Punishment of I.G. Farben” by Joseph Borkin.)

– 97% of western Europe has rejected fluoridated water due to the known health risks, however 10% of Britons drink it and the UK government is trying to fast track the fluoridation of the entire country’s water supply.

– In Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg fluoridation of water was rejected because it was classified as compulsive medication against the subject’s will and therefore violated fundamental human rights.

– In November of 2006, the American Dental Association (ADA) advised that parents should avoid giving babies fluoridated water.

– Sources of fluoride include: fluoride dental products, fluoride pesticides, fluoridated pharmaceuticals, processed foods made with fluoridated water, and tea.

Apoligies/ Dr. Oz Weight Loss and a flat stomach

First I need to apologize if anyone feels indoctrinated by me for my insistence in them to question where their food comes from, where their nutrition information comes from, and how to live a healthier lifestyle. I know it doesn’t make sense but it happens I guess. Don’t worry, my feelings aren’t hurt by some name calling.

The following is strictly one opinion on the subject matter. If you have a legitimate argument please feel free to comment. If you want to call me indoctrinating or ignorant because I don’t have a masters in Heart surgery or another piece of paper of equal value, don’t bother because it won’t be posted. I realize that I have too many videos and too much info from underground wellness and Marks Daily apple but that’s how I roll. I learn better by seeing someone speak enthusiastically then by reading.

I’ve been checking out this Dr Oz guy because apparently he is a God to a lot of people and I can’t quite figure him out. Here is his profile. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mehmet_Oz.

Mehmet Cengiz Oz (Turkish: Mehmet Cengiz Öz; born June 11, 1960) is a Turkish-American cardiothoracic surgeon and author. He has made frequent appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show, as well as appearances on Larry King Live, CNN, and other networks.”In 2009, Winfrey’s Harpo Productions and Sony Pictures launched a syndicated daily talk show featuring Oz, called The Dr. Oz Show.[1]

I don’t watch much T.V. so I’ve only spent a few minutes checking his stuff out but the first thing I noticed on his website was that his break the addiction of sugar page had a large advertisement on it for Activia yogurt, which conveniently has 15g of sugar in it. That’s half the sugar of a soda. Then he has a video clip showing that yogurt is bad and has hidden sugar in it on another page. Here are the problems sugar causes since here barely scratches the surface on the problem.

That’s only a first impression and I don’t claim to know anything about the guy or what he is about. Some of what I read and saw sounded pretty accurate though. Then some of it made me scratch my head. One of his clips talked about how eating protein and fat with exercise will help build muscle and boost metabolism while lowering carbs and sugar intake will help lose fat (which I agree with)… YET… I find stuff like this…

A low-fat diet can help with weight loss and protect you from diseases you might be predisposed to. Avoid fatty foods, refined sugars and carbohydrates; they can make you feel lethargic. For best energy, eat low-fat carbs, including whole grains like quinoa, featured in this berry parfait or legumes, like chick peas, in this delicious curry dish.

Soooo… Now he’s promoting low fat diets… That sounds a lot like other gimmicks I have heard out there.

Here we go. Here is the meat and potatoes. The Ultimate diet

In Day 1: Dump the Fridge

Looking great all the way up until #3 except that I don’t see artificial sweeteners. Eliminate Saturated fat entirely?

3. Saturated fat This includes most four- legged animal fat, milk fat, butter or lard, and tropical oils, such as palm and coconut.

In all reality… Saturated fats are vital to healthy bodily function. The following is the relationship with disease. Here is Cardio disease disproved and they do link it to cancers. Could that be because the majority of animals we eat come from CAFO’s and are extremely sick.

Cardiovascular diseases

“In 2010, a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies including 348,000 subjects found no statistically significant relationship between cardiovascular disease and dietary saturated fat.[7][8] However, the authors noted that randomized controlled clinical trials in which saturated fat was replaced with polyunsaturated fat observed a reduction in heart disease, and that the ratio between polyunsaturated fat and saturated fat may be a key factor.[7] In 2009, a systematic review of prospective cohort studies or randomized trials concluded that there was “insufficient evidence of association” between intake of saturated fatty acids and coronary heart disease, and pointed to strong evidence for protective factors such as vegetables and a Mediterranean diet and harmful factors such as trans fats and foods with a high glycemic index.[9]

An evaluation of data from Harvard Nurses’ Health Study found that “diets lower in carbohydrate and higher in protein and fat are not associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease in women. When vegetable sources of fat and protein are chosen, these diets may moderately reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.”[10]

Mayo Clinic highlighted oils that are high in saturated fats include coconut, palm oil and palm kernel oil. Those of lower amounts of saturated fats, and higher levels of unsaturated (preferably monounsaturated) fats like olive oil, peanut oil, canola oil, avocados, safflower, corn, sunflower, soy and cottonseed oils are generally healthier.[11] However, high intake of saturated dairy fat does not appear to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease[12] and Pacific island populations who obtain 30-60% of their total caloric intake from fully saturated coconut fat have almost non-existent rates of cardiovascular disease.[13]”

Okay. There is more I could cover but I’m done beating the Saturated fat horse.

Next… The Shopping List

Not too bad. The Low fat and No fat is killing me though. The choice of Boca Chick’n as a meat is a horrible idea since everything they have is processed. The acidity in Canned tomatoes causes chemicals from the can to leak into your food not to mention salt content in all canned foods for preservation. There is absolutely no red meat in the list which cuts out a lot of essential amino acids and obviously the proteins and fats. He encourages Soy milk… Click on Soy. Yogurts and Juices we know contain lots of sugar but I’ll let it slide to see what the recipes are that he uses them in. The “one bottle white wine” goes against the not sugar thing as well. It’s actually nothing but sugar.

Then… Lose 100 Calories

There we go. Now he lost me as a customer. So we’re counting calories and eating less

Next… Day 3: Automate Your Meals

Keeping meals the same minimizes the chances of cheating or grabbing on-the-go food with mystery nutritional information. Don’t reinvent the wheel; the Dr. Oz Ultimate Diet is about dieting smart, not hard.

Is all about portion control and eating the same meal every single day to avoid cheating. Isn’t that the perfect plan to drive someone to hate food and hate life. The portion control thing causes the exact same problems as counting calories and eating less by the way. Another problem with this is that if you aren’t getting every essential element your body needs in that one meal, you will never get it because you are eating the same meal every day.

Day 4 The Role of the Soul

Actually looks like a great idea.

Day 5 Learn how to cheat

If you weren’t doing all of this starving yourself and get some animal fat into your diet you wouldn’t be craving food so bad.

Day 6 Call your Doctor

I agree that if you are trying a low calorie starvation diet you should have the doctor monitor you. Otherwise I go by this

Day 7 Go Public

I totally agree with this. Hold yourself accountable. Everyone will know if you’re slacking off (or on vacation)

Day 8- 14 Rinse and Repeat

Finish up the 2 week long portion control hell. Obviously the book advertisement as well. I guess after that your done with the diet and can go back to eating oreos and Taco Bell… or try another diet. Doesn’t sound like fun to me to eat the same food for 14 days straight.
